Finals week starts bright and early on Monday so I find myself lacking the motivation to make this entry terribly detailed...
Thanksgiving was alright, like everything else this year it had its ups and downs.
1. Mom had her hysterectomy two weeks before I made it home from UIndy. She's healing well and should be back to work soon. Aunt Viv switched us holidays so we wouldn't have to get everything ready so quickly after mom's surgery. Viv just had her gallbladder taken out in the not so distant past but she was in much better condition to host a party than mom was. I don't really know why the two of them didn't ask somebody else to host the family gathering, oh well...
2. The Sauerwein side was fun, I ended up staying at Viv's til about 1am. I didn't hang around as long to visit the Schwabs. I think I'm losings my tolerance for people with age. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate anybody, I just hate having the same conversation over and over again. Ex: "How are you? I never see you anymore. How's school. Why don't you ever come around?" People need to realize that the door swings both ways. Oh...and that my phone does ring! Just like the door...the phone rings both ways! After I've been around for about two hours all I hear about is how I'm never around...I take that as my que to leave. If you want to spend time with me maybe you should talk to me about things that matter, or talk to me like I'm in your family and not some stranger. Ok...enough ranting for now...
3. Mom tricked me into going shopping on Black Friday! *grumbles*
Although I swore to myself that I would NEVER go shopping on Black Friday again this year wasn't so bad. We got a later start, meaning Mom didn't wake me up at three and put me in the store with all those crazy assholes. I ran into Andy Davis...it's like our yearly tradition. We don't even run into each other in the same city every year but somehow we find one another. I find it comical. I also finished Christmas shopping for my brothers; I got better prices on everything I bought so I guess it's kinda worth it. Oh, and Momma got me new bras and I got the pretty bag from Victoria's Secret for free. XD
4. Turkey Shoot! Turkey Shoot is an annual paintball game the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We go with friends from the Franklin County area. Kyle, Billy, Brad, Cody, and I all made the game this year. I love it! I'll be posting pictures on facebook soon if you want to check them out. :)
Oh, and p.s. Emma's mom makes the best venison chilli!
5. Tragedy hits and we leave the paintball game early. Grandpa Bill and Grandma Betty's house burned down. Everybody made it out safe and it wasn't a total loss. The second floor is gone and the first floor is lost to water damage. We were able to salvage some things. We found grandma's jewelry, grandpa's guns, some family pictures, and both of their safes. The material things are not what is important in this case. I wouldn't care if I never saw any of those things again in my life, what matters is that the people I love are safe. Red Cross helped my grandparents out by providing them money for some new clothes. The firemen also looked out for their health and got the medication out of the house. I am grateful to everybody who has helped my grandparents or offered to help them.
Insurance is going to cover a place for them to rent while they figure out what they're going to do next. They are getting ready move to Batesville this weekend. They will probably be there for atleast the next six months.

Tech Week
We started our tech runs of Spike Heels this weekend.
I've been having lots of long days that turn into long nights, that then run together and make it hard to even figure out what time it really is.
I may have taken on too much work, but this "hell week," as we like to call it, hasn't truly been hell in comparison to past shows. I'm actually pleased with myself as a lighting designer. :) It's my first real design and I didn't expect it to go this well. You get a lot of adrenaline out of surprising yourself when things work out better than you hoped.
I'm also the master electrician, which means I have a crew, but as far as lights go it's mostly me. I take a lot of pride in that.
The only reason I feel I took on too much work is the fact that I'm still enrolled in 18hrs and I have A LOT of work due tomorrow that I've hardly started on. (Which I will be getting to momentarily, I just needed a mental break. Yay blog!)
Well, here's to hoping for a strong finish to tech week and a great run of the show!

Weekends in September Rock!
Labor Day:
I ran into Stevie and Wayne! I took them with me to the annual fish fry and ended up going to Wayne's house for awhile afterwords. He let it slip that he played guitar and sang so I made him serenade me. It was awesome!
September 6th:
I got to go home to see The Moving Wall. It's a traveling memorial dedicated to all of the fallen and missing veterans from the Vietnam War. If you ever get the chance to go see it I suggest you check it out!
After the wall we went out with Mom and Dick, then later on in the evening Heather and I went out for our first experience in a Brookville Bar. I'll just post some pics, they say more about it than I can.
September 7th:
I got to meet my new baby cousin! Ella Marie is so adorable! XD
September 13th:
I took my little brother to his first concert ever!
We went to XFest in Indianapolis and saw Hinder, Trapt, Apocalyptica, Candelbox, Bullet for my Valentine, Puddle of Mudd, and Buckcherry. XD
September 19th:
Cherry's 21st Birthday!
The evening started out at her place with a house party. I got to meet her mom which was pretty cool, after it started getting later we went downtown to The Blu Lounge. It was nice, interesting atmosphere and lots of interesting people to watch. lol. Brubaker was amazing and decided to be our DD.
September 20th:
Quentin and Meaghan came to visit! I made them plus Kyle, Kelley, and Brubaker biscuits and gravy for breakfast, then we all went shopping. Next we returned to my apartment and played (more watched the boys play) wii. The night ended with a movie (Hancock) and Skyline. I was so glad they came up to visit. It's always great to see people from home, especially the ones you really care about! XD
September 26:
Rzyski, Roberta, and I walked the canal downtown. :)
September 27:
I went and got Sushi with Yen. It was delicious!
Then we ran to the mall and I got a new book on massage techniques, I can't wait to try them out! And last but not least we went to see Kung Fu Panda with Cherry and Curtis. Good times.

New Apartment!
I'm officially completely moved into my new apartment! XD
It's nothing spectacular, but it's mine!
The apartment has six rooms and I share it with Yen. Another HUGE plus...I HAVE MY OWN BEDROOM!!!!! *dances* This is the first semester I haven't had to share my room and I'm already doing sooo much better when it comes to keeping up on homework. :)

Hello
To follow up on the American Idol auditions...I had fun! XD
I didn't really go with the intention of moving on to the show I just wanted to spend time with friends, go audition for the experience, and sing. I got exactly what I wanted! XD (How often can a person really say that? lol) I haven't sang like that in front of that many people in years and it made me feel so alive! I miss running around singing at the top of my lungs all the time! I should do it more often.
My grandpa is recovering from his surgery. Hopefully this will be the end of the prostate cancer. Cross your fingers!
I'll be moving back to Indy soon. I'm so ready. I'll have an apartment and I'll be living with my friend Yen! XD Move in date is Aug. 20th.

Wish Me Luck!
My friend Theresa talked me into going down to Louisville with her to audition for American Idol. (In case you're wondering she didn't have to twist my arm or anything.)
Right now I'm looking for a good audition song and I'm open to suggestions.
Auditions are July 21st!

My Summer Thus Far
I've been spending a lot of my summer, you guessed it
Working!
I'm back at Kelley's Store on the weekends and doing all kinds of fun outside work Monday through Friday. This work includes but is not limited to: rubber roofing, trench work, running electric and water, and fixing plumbing. Before you ask me to come be the handy-woman at your house note that I am in training and always under supervision. XD
I did get a break from aforementioned jobs last week. XD
I went on a family vacation to Hilton Head, S.C.
I spent over half of the time on the beach sipping the occasional margarita. :)
We did rent bikes and ride around the island, Mom and I got pedicures, and last but not least can you say shopping! I stocked up on lots of beading supplies and added a few new pieces to my wardrobe. (Which is undergoing reconstruction, lol...I'm making more of an effort to look like a girl.)
On the way home we stopped by to see Aunt Jacqui and Uncle Jim. Then Jacqui took us to see Rob and Stacy and Pepper. Pepper is so cute!!!
Jack (my cat) gave us a scare. He went missing for a little over a week. I'm not really shocked by how upset I was but I'll admit that I forgot how much stress a pet can cause. I'm glad to report that he returned yesterday morning. He lost nearly every ounce of fat on his body and now is attempting to make up for it. Poor kitty spends his days sleeping and eating with the occasional visit for a pet. That's all, he hasn't even tried to venture back outside yet.
On a not so good note, my grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer. We did get good news though, the cancer has not spread. He's scheduled for surgery next month and hopefully that will be the end of this.
Grandma spent some time in the hospital too, phenomena was the big issue. She was on oxygen but decided to stop taking it. I guess we'll see how that goes. Keep your fingers crossed for both of them!
Oh, and I'm scheduled to get a new pair of glasses! XD (see previous post)
Ta ta for now!

Cafe Dionysus
Tonight was Cafe Dionysus. Yay! For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a variety show of sorts that Alpha Psi Omega does annually. There is an open stage and anybody is welcome to preform. It all went extremely smoothly and was much more entertaining than I expected. XD
Rzyski and I were in charge of running the event this year. I remembered to plan everything...aside from what I was going to say to introduce the event. Oh well, nothing was a disaster. I look forward to topping it next year!
Here's a "Set List"
Chelsea Anderson - Just One Step
Mason Absher - The Mason Experience
Chelsey Wood - Broken Wing
Alex Oberhide & Lucas Souder - You Know How I Know You're Gay
Alex Oberhide & Mason Absher - Duet
David West - Stand Up Comedy
Jim Ream - Stories and Songs
The night was concluded with karaoke and Guitar Hero.
Success! XD
Oh, and thank you Chris and Mason for running sound and lights! *huggle*

Because Yen Says I Have To:

Holy Shit!
Update:
Spring break was awesome, but WAY too short. I'm back up in Indy with a busy end of the semester ahead of me. I found out over break that I get to be Master Electrician for our next production, Hedda Gabler. Cool job title, yes. Heavy work load, yes. I have to hang/cable/focus/etc the lights. I know BARE minimum about lighting. I've got a lot more to learn than anticipated. It'll be good for me down the road, nice on a resume, great skills to have.
Chicago was amazing. I had a lot of time to relax and got some awesome shopping in. Yen's birthday was fun! I helped her make a cake and we went to Applebee's with her family. I'm totally jealous, they went to a drag show on Friday, I had to go home before then.
While home over break I got minimum amounts of homework finished. I played a few kick ass games of paintball and went to karaoke on Saturday night. Going to the legion with Mom is so much fun, especially when I can get her to dance! XD
And for today:
Happy St. Patty's day! I didn't go out. Instead I stayed in, drank some Irish coffee and watched Boondock Saints with a couple friends. How can you go wrong with Sean Patrick Flanery? *swoon*

Positivley Pessimistic
I just looked back at my past posts and realized that aside from stupid videos I've mostly been whining or commenting on tragic events.
Think positive:
1. I know it's WAY to early to say anything like this, but when I talk to him I CAN breath. This is the first time I've had butterflies in ages. Silly, I know.
2. I don't have any rehearsals left for Red Herring! The show only runs two more nights and then we strike it on Sunday. Yay free time! (Note to self, email Brad conflicts so you don't get put on a crew you don't want.) If I know what's good for me I won't be as involved with Hedda.
3. Spring break IS coming! Yen and I are going to dance her 21st birthday away in the clubs of Chicago! I get four days of home! We're having a paintball game at the house! Tami and I are in the midst of making way overdue plans to do something/anything. Yay Spring Break! XD
4. Even though I've been stressing about homework my mid-term grades seem to be kicking ass.
5. I made time to clean my room the right way today.
6. I think I can afford Vegas! (And I'm not too nervous about the flight...first time in a plane and I'm going by myself...)

Can I relax yet?
I NEED Spring Break!!!
Ug, I've been so busy lately that I feel guilty when I finally sit down for an hour to catch up with things online and then maybe to breath.
I love being busy, I really do, I just don't like the stress that comes with taking on to many "leadership roles." I love being my little ambitious self, but sometimes I forget that I have homework on top of everything else. Midterms are here. Brad still hasn't approved my second directing scene. He said no to the first one I showed him so as of now I'm taking a break from searching through another Pinter play. (Yay mind fuck!) Anyhow...let me remember to exhale and get back to the point of this blog.
I want to go home and actually get to spend a good chunk of real time with Billy and Mom. Billy came up for little sibs weekend and nearly half of the time I had to hand him over to Kyle because I had to work the show. Suck. Atleast he could still come, if Kyle and I weren't both at this school I wouldn't have got to see him at all. He had to arrive a day late because weather got nasty in Brookville. Mom didn't get to see the show or my choir concert. Call me stupid for being upset, I generally don't care if she can't make it, but this time I reserved four tickets to Red Herring and had to give them all away. Then I was doing something somewhat special for the choir concert. *shrugs* I shouldn't complain, she made if for my solo. Dick didn't want to hang out for the concert...they would have only had to stay for another hour and I could have got them comp tickets.
I guess I just get excited when I think somebody's coming to see me and then they don't get to. It's not really anybody's fault. Yay nature.
Anyhow, I think I wanted to cry on atleast five different occasions Sunday. Overworking myself is hell on my emotions. Amelia and Matt came to visit this weekend too, Amelia stayed with me, so it wasn't a problem to see her, but I had to tell Matt, "No, I can't come" 80% of the time.
I guess the real point to this blog is that I want to go home and see my family. I want to go on a hike and breath. I'm going to Chicago for a few days for Yen's birthday and I'm psyched about it, but I just want to go home. Mom looked so sad when she had to leave.

NOOOOOOO!!!
I can't get tickets to see Flogging Molly again!!!
I JUST found out they would be in Indy on the 10th...like 20mins away from me at the Vogue. Damn me! I didn't check for tour dates up here because I forgot I would be 21 and able to go.
I'm going to go cry now.
K bye.

Tragic News in the Acting World
Heath Ledger, an actor that was undeniably a rising star in Hollywood, died today in a Lower Manhattan apartment. He was 28. It is tragic that many of our great talents perish so senselessly, so young. Be it James Dean, River Phoenix or Chris Farley, it always seems that -- as Billy Joel once sang -- "only the good die young." Ledger's legacy will live on in the films he managed to make during his brief, 28 year life.

Bad News in the Department
Wednesday a full faculty/student meeting was called for UIndy Theatre. Nobody knew what was going on and everybody was slightly nervous with feelings of "impending doom."
Never did we expect this to happen...to better explain, here's the follow up email from Jim:
For those who missed yesterday's meeting and haven't heard the news,
I have mixed feelings to report that after almost 14 years, Jeffrey
Barnes will be leaving UIndy. He has accepted a position with Herron
Arts School. They made him an offer he couldn't refuse even though
we wish he had. Jeffrey's last official day will be February 1.
I know that you join me in congratulating Jeffrey as he makes this
move. On the plus side for us....wait there is no plus side for us.
We are happy for Jeffrey, but will miss his talents, skills and many
contributions to our crazy world.
The search process for a replacement (I know. It can't be done) has
already begun.
Because people who work so hard and so closely together become like a
family, there may be some strong feelings. Change is never easy. We
will carry on.
I have tried to think of some creative inspiring salutation for this
message. They all sound trite and pathetic.
Just know that there are many people in our theatre family who care
about you.
Jim Ream
Needless to say, things are getting frantic. Not only is Jeffrey my boss, but he's our technical director and we have a show to load in the week after he leaves. We still don't even know who will fill the positions of assistant technical director or master carpenter. SHIT!
He does so much for the department and PRIDE. He coordinated the drag show...he brought us Judy Shepard. He's heard me out more than once and brought me back to sanity.
Now I'm left w/the assignment to clean the shop well and send him a list of everything we need so he can take care of it before he leaves....IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!
I am happy for him...it is a better paying job w/less hrs and he'll be able to focus on his shows, but at the same time...*pout*.
Cross your fingers for me and hope this is a tolerable semester. :'(
Never did we expect this to happen...to better explain, here's the follow up email from Jim:
Just know that there are many people in our theatre family who care
about you.

Shenanigans!!!
I went to Sears to get new glasses. Love the frames but, THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG PRESCRIPTION!!! The lenses are weaker than they should be. I told their optometrists that I thought he was wrong, he didn't want to listen to me let alone do his job. My exam took LESS than 10mins. Stupid. Now I have to go all the way home to get these things fixed. The receipt is as the house, that's AT LEAST 180 miles round trip that I shouldn't have to drive. Lets not forget to add on the milage for whichever Sears I have to go to. Bastards! I'm sticking w/my optometrist from here on out!
Milwaukee
Today was my last day in Milwaukee, ACTF is over.
Thank God.
I had fun, but the rooming situation reminded me A LOT of high school. Aside from the rehash of my teen years, I really don't have anything to complain about. Well, maybe that it's nearly 5a.m. and I've been working extremely hard all week and I'm exhausted. I can't stop thinking so why not blog? Who knows, I'll probably be able to sleep after I finish this post.
Our show was a big success! The Shape of Things may not have moved on to the national competition, but it gained our department a lot of respect throughout our region. (KCACTF Region III: Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois.) The audience's response to the show was amazing! We got great feedback from the respondents on the acting, design, and tech aspects of the show, and.....we almost won the Golden Hand Truck Award! XD Out of all the productions that took place in the theatre space we used the house crew nominated us for this award, which means they thought our tech crew was the safest and most efficient crew they observed. Go us!
We also had two students from our department make it to the semi-final round of Irene Ryans! (It's an acting competition and only eight out of 270 nominees and their partners get to this round.) This is also big because it puts our school's name out there and proves that small departments can achieve greatness.
Sadly this year I didn't have time to make it to any of the work shops I wanted to participate in. We had too much going on with the show. I was really excited about one that worked on how to "act out a song." I even went to a library to track down sheet music, it was required that you have it. I kid you not, it wasn't even five minutes after I copied the music I needed that I discovered our time to load the show's things into the loading dock/holding area was at the same time as my work shop. I nearly cried. Silly thing to be upset about, but I really had my heart set on it.
Our hotel hosted an opening night party for the festival. It was so much fun! We mostly stuck together as a department, but I got to meet a few new people there and throughout the week. I got an ego boost from John, he complemented me on my dancing. He's fun to dance with himself; I made him promise me that he'd show me the good clubs in Indy when we got back.
I did find time to see three shows, all at the Pabst Theatre in downtown Milwaukee. Dracula was amazing! We made sure to get there before house opened so we could fight our way to the front of the crowd and sit close. The set was HUGE! The tech was awesome, they had a great dance at the beginning of the play and because we did get to sit in the third row it felt like we were in the scenes.
I also saw an original student production called Arts or Crafts. It too was impressive, it made you think about things. And their set was so interesting, the concept was origami, everything was flat on the floor and then pieces folded together to create the scene's furniture. It sort of looked like a pop-up book. The only other scenic elements where two framed projection screens. Nearly everything about the production was interesting, even intermission, we went out to the lobby and got to make our own art or craft.
The other show was the first live musical that could just sit back and watch. My only other musical theatre experience includes the time I ran sound for our musical production and movies. I'm sad to say that I was dissapointed. The entire thing was cheesy and hard to understand. None of it was projected well enough to reach the balcony seat that I had chosen.
For me this year's ACTF was an amazing experience. I had a great time. I'm saving all the good memories and letting go of the extra drama. I feel that I learned a lot.
Oh! One small thing, I tried something totally new...Alpha Psi had a dinner the last night of the festival and I tried octopus. Surprisingly it's not bad!
I even managed not to have a single hang over. Pretty impressive considering I just turned 21 and attended the American COLLEGE THEATRE Festival, huh?

A Holiday Update
As of last night I am back on campus, however, I'm not here to stay. I have the trip to Milwaukee to look forward to in the coming week. We had our first day of rehearsal yesterday and I have to go back for round two in a few hours. I'm on electrics crew, so my work is agreeable. We only have to hang and cable four lights, the rest of our work will be switching out gels and focusing. We don't even have to run the fly system, the house crew is taking care of it. Sweet Action!!!
Okay, so working backwards here are some details on my holidays.
New Years:
I stayed home with Momma because she wasn't feeling well. I did get a few interesting phone calls...I talked to nearly every person named Matt that I know. Lol...it was kind of the theme for the night.
My Birthday:
Was amazing!
Mom took Heather R and I out to Liberty to meet up with Dick and have a few drinks with them, then around 6:00 we left for Batesville to meet up with the rest of the group.
I had my mom, Aunt Rhonda, Heather Davis and Heather Robinson all go up to Indy with me. We planned on going to Howl at the Moon Saloon, but after arriving at its doors found it to still be closed for the holiday. Oh well, now I have a promised visit from Mom and others to go "Howl" with me.
Our next stop was Hard Rock Cafe, but before I could get to it I ran into a friend from home...he scared the hell out of me, but I was still more than happy to see him. Yay Bryce! He was in town w/his new boy. (A cute new boy at that...why are they all gay?)
We had a blast at Hard Rock, we had blow jobs and raced to tie knots in cherry stems....the bartender loved us, wonder why? ;P
We ended the evening at the Slippery Noodle. It's the oldest bar in Indiana and they have live blues every night. I know it was a little loud for Mom's taste, and truth be told I would have liked to be able to have more conversation around the table, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Yay 21!!! XD
Christmas:
As always Christmas Day was spent with Mom and her side of the family and Christmas Eve spent with Dad's. We meet Dad for a Christmas dinner on the 23rd. Nothing to terribly out of the ordinary occurred over these three days. Grandma left early, I guess the puddin had already started. (Don't ask me what that means, I don't know.)
I did get some pretty awesome presents and I'm very proud of some of the gifts I found for others. I'll not bore you with a long list...my two favorite things were the Wii mom got me for Christmas and the Rum Cake Aunt Kathy made me. The cake was technically for my birthday...so was the DDR game for Wii Mom let me open early, but hey, they're so close it doesn't matter.
Jack sends his Christmas wishes. He's the reason we didn't put ornaments one the tree this year....
